South Hall man dies in hunting accident
OAKWOOD – A South Hall man has died from injuries he sustained in a hunting accident Monday afternoon, according to authorities.
Hall County Sheriff’s Col. Jeff Strickland said sheriff’s deputies responded to the 4000 block of Avalon Place off Parks Road to a 911 call of a person injured.
“Upon arrival deputies discovered that a 45-year-old white male had fallen from a deer stand in a wooded area approximately 200 yards behind his residence,” he said.
Strickland said it appears the victim left his house to set up a deer stand in a tree for a future hunt. When he did not return, his brother went into the woods to check on him and discovered his body.
“It appears the victim had fallen approximately 25 feet,” Strickland said. “At this time the incident appears to be an accident and no foul play is suspected.”
The victim’s name has not been released.
Strickland said this is the first hunting-related accident of the season in Hall County.
A 62-year-old Cleveland man, checking his tree stand in preparation for deer season, was injured when he fell about 25 feet last week.
