Northeast Georgia sheriff’s deputies arrested four people this week after authorities said they lied about the facts concerning the shooting of a deer hunter the day after Christmas.

The four were questioned following the shooting on property off U.S. Highway
29 near Hartwell.

Eddie Carroll, 51; Brenda Carroll, 49; Michael Crocker, 33; and Amanda Herrington, 31, were all charged with giving false statements to law enforcement and hindering the apprehension of a criminal.

Henry Allen Harris, 28, is charged with shooting Bren Stone, 28, of Canon.

Stone, who was seriously wounded when the bullet went through his arm and into his abdomen, underwent surgery for a second time this week at a hospital in Anderson, S.C., the sheriff said.

The shooting occurred after Stone left his deer stand. Stone had walked about 30 feet before he was shot.

Authorities estimate that the suspect was about 200 feet from Stone when he fired his gun. Harris never attempted to render aid after shooting Stone, who likely would have died had he not had a cellphone to call for help, Cleveland said.
