Richard Allen Landrey, 59, was fined by Colorado Parks and Wildlife and had points assessed against his state hunting and fishing privileges after he shot a bull elk in Sky Mountain Park over the weekend.
Landrey was spotted by a Pitkin County Open Space and Trails ranger on Sunday afternoon carrying an “animal,” a rifle and handgun.
Hunting is closed in the area because of its status as Pitkin County Open Space property, and can be dangerous due to the fact that the public trails are still open and mountain bikers are out enjoying fall rides.
