A man has been fined $2,000 for setting an illegal wolf trap near the Halfway and Graham Rivers in 2016.

Dave Gerber, born 1957, was handed the fine Nov. 5 on a charge of illegally trapping a wolf/fox/coyote/lynx/bobcat under B.C.’s Wildlife Act regulations.

Gerber was also given a two-year probation order with conditions that bar him from trapping for two years, according to court records. He was also ordered to pay a $300 victim surchage.

The BC Conservation Officer Service says one of its officers responded to an illegal trapping complaint about the use of a large treble hook set for wolves.

Court records show the incident took place between Jan. 1 and Feb. 6, 2016.
