Dear C.A.S.H. members and supporters,
As you read in my article beginning on the previous page, it was another intense summer this year. But that’s about over for now, and we’re heading right into Autumn (better known as hunting season, for those with a rifle and a freezer, but who’ve yet to grow a conscience for nonhuman animals).
Among the daily tasks I do for C.A.S.H. is search keywords like ‘hunter, ‘hunting’ or ‘hunting accidents.’ The problem with wading through search results under the heading ‘hunter’ is that most matches these days are about Hunter Biden and not about obsessed animal killers. Skimming through those headlines, I inadvertently learn things I wish I’d never known, such as Hunter Biden telling an interviewer he may be 48.3% gay.
Now, he probably thought that would win him some votes in certain circles if he decides to run for president, but the thing I really worry about is if Donald Trump Jr. follows suit in his aged daddy’s stead. Then we could end up with a rabid, frothing trophy hunter as our next commander in chief.
Mind you, Donald Trump Jr. is not just some down-home pheasant hunter like Tim Walz, he’s a world-touring trophy-getter who proudly poses with the animals he mowed down in Zimbabwe, including an elephant (whose severed tail he held up for the camera along with the knife used). His trip to Mongolia to slay a rare species of sheep cost taxpayers $75,000.00. He also hunted in Alaska, where he made Sarah Palin look like Jane Goodall. Compared to Donald Jr., Ted Nugent would seem more like Tiny Tim strumming his ukulele and singing “Tiptoe Through the Tulips.”
Clearly, voters in this country need groups like C.A.S.H. to keep them informed about candidates who teeter on the edge of insanity. We’ll continue to do our best to keep them on the straight and narrow.
Jim
