Deer hunter dies in ATV mishap

SYLAMORE – Authorities believe an all-terrain vehicle accident claimed the life of 55-year-old Aubrey Appling of Sylamore on Saturday.
Appling was apparently returning from a successful deer hunt when he crashed the ATV, fell and struck his head on a rock, according to a press release from the Izard County Sheriff’s Office. Appling was pronounced dead at the scene by Izard County Coroner Eddie Howard.
