A man died Tuesday in a hunting accident in northern Jefferson County.

Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched just before noon to a wooded area near the Turnberry Highlands subdivision. Sgt. Joni Money said family members of the 52-year-old man summoned them after they had found their loved one dead in the woods.

They had gone looking for him when he did not return home after leaving earlier in the day to go hunt. It appears the man had fallen from his hunting tree stand. No foul play is suspected.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office on Wednesday identified the victim as David Earl Jordan. He lived in Kimberly.

“This man was doing everything right when it comes to hunting safety,’’ Money said, “and a heartbreaking accident took his life.”
