ANAKTUVUK PASS, Alaska, Aug. 17 (UPI) — Early Friday the Alaska Air National Guard says it helped rescue a hunter seriously mauled by a brown bear.
The bear attack occurred about 35 miles north of Anaktuvuk Pass, the newspaper said.
“The man had been suffering for approximately 36 hours with severe injuries and possible loss of life,” the Air National Guard said in a statement, crediting the medical professional from the other hunting party with saving the man’s life by stemming the loss of blood.
