A Millersburg deer hunter in his late 50s or early 60s died this weekend after he fell 20-25 feet from a tree stand.
The man’s son-in-law called in the fatality to the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office at 7:08 p.m. Saturday. The Ruggles Township incident happened on Township Road 1461, just south of County Road 16, which is about 1 1/2 miles south of Huron County.
“It was a hunting accident. It was a fatality,” he added.
The man and the tree stand in which he was standing fell to the ground.
The man and his son-in-law had permission to hunt deer on the private property.
