GREENFIELD, Ind. (AP) – The Indiana Department of Natural Resources says Robert D. Smith, 59, died after apparently trying to remove a tree stand from a dead, rotting tree.
Smith was trying to remove the stand when the tree broke at its base. That apparently caused Smith to fall around 18 feet.
