HUDSON — Alan Blanchard, 55, was charged with second-degree assault, a class D felony, after he accidentally shot state Department of Environmental Conservation Officer James Davey, 39, on Nov. 29, 2016 in Gallatin.
Blanchard was hunting with James Brown after nightfall, which is illegal in the state.
Davey was shot once in the pelvic area with a rifle, state police said when they began the criminal investigation.
Blanchard pleaded not guilty to the single charge of assault in the second-degree.
Blanchard is scheduled to appear in Columbia County Court on Feb. 24 at 11 a.m.
