Two hunting accidents reported Saturday

CHARLESTON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — The incident happened around 1:30 Saturday afternoon while the teen was bird hunting with three other people.

According to the Maine Warden Service the three hunters had leaned their shotguns against a truck parked on Ridge Road in Charleston.

When one gun tipped over, knocking over another shotgun, the 15- year-old tried to catch the gun before it hit the ground.

According to Maine Warden Service Sgt. Christopher Simmons, the gun went off as the teen grabbed the end of the barrel.

Also Saturday officials say twin 12-year-old brothers were bird hunting on Covell Road in Fairfield when one of them fired at a bird and accidentally hit his brother.

The injury is being described as non life-threatening.
