Hunter Dies From Accidental Self-Inficted Gunshot Wound in Otter Tail Co.
OTTER TAIL COUNTY, MINN. – A Spring Lake Park man died while hunting alone
Sunday, following what appears to be an accidental self inflicted gunshot
wound, according to the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators said 38-year-old Corey Meyer was found alone northeast of
Bluffton Sunday, an area he had hunted for the past 12 years.
Evidence at the scene suggested that Corey was moving through heavy wooded
underbrush toward a deer he had shot, when somehow he accidentally shot
himself in the head. The cause of death was ruled extensive head trauma.
Investigators said evidence at the scene ruled out the possibility that
Meyer was shot by another h
