Genesee Co. man charged with hunter-related shooting

A Genesee County man has been arrested in connection with a hunter-relating shooting. It happened in LeRoy on November 27.
The State Department of Environmental Conservation Division of Law Enforcement has charged 43-year-old Augustin Iannello of LeRoy with second-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree assault and discharging a firearm across a public highway.
Captain Michael Van Durme of the DEC said Iannello fired his 12-guage shotgun at a deer that was between himself and a 53-year-old man shoveling snow in his driveway. The slug traveled about 1,000 feet before hitting the man causing bruising and a laceration on his leg.
The charges of reckless endangerment and assault are misdemeanors and carrying a maximum penalty of a $1,000 fine and one year imprisonment. Discharging a firearm across a highway carries a maximum penalty of a $1,000 fine and up to three months imprisonment.
Iannello will be arraigned on December 27.
