DNR Looking For Trumpeter Swan Shooter

(Warroad, MN) — The D-N-R is asking the public’s help to find out who shot four immature trumpeter swans at Brown’s Lake near Warroad during the youth waterfowl weekend and ruffed grouse opener September 18th and 19th. Trumpeter swans are a threatened species and people who shoot them face fines up to three-thousand-dollars, plus possible loss of their shotgun and hunting license. D-N-R officials urge hunters not to mistake swans for Canada geese, which are much smaller and have shorter necks. A reward is being offered for information on the trumpeter swan shootings and tipsters can remain anonymous.
