Two charged for hunting bear with aid of bait Donald Sneckenberger and Doy Sneckenberger were charged Monday in Allegany County

Two Hagerstown men have been charged for hunting black bears with the aid of bait, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources said.

Donald Sneckenberger, 75, and Doy Sneckenberger, 46, were charged Monday in Allegany County, said Sgt. A.A. Windemuth, a spokesman for DNR police.

Windemuth said he didn’t have a lot of details, but the Sneckenbergers could be fined $1,500 each and lose their hunting licenses for five years.

The Sneckenbergers have the option of paying the fines or fighting the charges in Allegany County District Court, Windemuth said.

Bear-hunting season started Monday in Allegany and Garrett counties and ended Friday.
