Man Arrested After Firing Shot After Argument Over Hunting Rights

State Police have arrested a man who they say fired a weapon near a hunter after an argument over property rights.

The incident happened on just before 6 a.m. Saturday on Skaggs Cemetery Road off of Turkey Lick Road in Greenup County. Police say a verbal confrontation occurred between Paul E. Blair, 38, of Wurtland and Jeffrey Akers 48. Police say Akers pulled onto the property to go hunting and encountered Blair, who was already near the end of the road. After the confrontation, Akers had walked back to his vehicle and Blair fired his rifle near the vehicle, causing debris to strike Akers’ vehicle.

Blair was was arrested the following day and charged with first-degree wanton endangerment. Akers was not injured in the incident.
