MADISON COUNTY — A man who was hunting Tuesday afternoon near Red Lick was accidentally shot in the foot by his 19-year-old companion, according to the Kentucky State Police.

Tommy Lemons was taken to the University of Kentucky Medical Center after the incident, which occurred shortly before 3 p.m. near Mallory Spring Road, Post 7 spokesperson Trooper Paul Blanton said.

He was walking up a hillside when the other man’s muzzleloader accidentally fired, Blanton said.

However, Trooper Toney Allen investigated the scene and determined the 19-year-old’s muzzleloader had been discharged, Blanton said.
