Noble County hunter falls 17 feet from tree stand

A hunter in Noble County fell 17 feet from his tree stand Saturday, according to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.

The hunter, Terry Tester, 57, suffered a serious hip injury from the fall.

Tester, of Albion, was climbing into the tree stand for an evening of deer hunting about 4 p.m., according to conservation officers who investigated the fall.

Just as he placed his weight onto the platform, two metal cables holding it out and away from the tree and parallel with the ground snapped in half, sending Tester plummeting.

Tester was taken to a hospital in Columbia City for treatment.
