McPHERSON — Kansas Department of Wildlife Parks & Tourism released more details Friday on the Sept. 1 hunting accident that injured one man.

Richard M. Williams, 29, of Wichita, was treated Sept. 1 at Wesley Medical Center after being shot at 7:10 a.m. as he sat on a bucket in a field of sunflowers.

Williams was about 40 yards away from Gene Bradbury, 24, of Wichita. They were among three persons who were hunting doves at the McPherson Valley Wetland Wildlife Area.

Bradbury was swinging on doves with a shotgun and didn’t see Williams, the email reads.
