HINESVILLE, GA (WTOC) –
A hunter was accidently shot in Hinesville around on Sunday 11:30 a.m. at Hacks Hunting Club.
Detectives with the Liberty County Sheriffs Office say a group of about thirty men were hunting when they spotted a deer.
That’s when Joel Hayden shot at the animal with a twelve gauge automatic shot gun several times. Once, near a tree stand where John Hudson was sitting.
Detectives say one of the bullets struck hudson in the stomach. Captain Dennis Davis says, ” the boy shot at the deer and then he saw the guy hollering and he said ‘John are you alright?’ and he saw him holding his stomach, and that’s when he knew something was wrong.”
He was flown by Lifestar to Memorial Medical Center in Savannah.
No word yet on his condition.
The shooting is now being handed over to the Department of Natural Resources.
