Greg McCarter found himself face down in a muddy, mole hill near Athens, La., in rural Claiborne Parish a few weeks ago with what he feared was a broken neck.
On a nippy, rainy day McCarter turned to close the door to the stand when he slipped disembarking his box deer stand. As he landed neck-first onto the turf, McCarter heard something snap.
