SAN DIEGO (AP) — The executive director of a Ramona wildlife research facility says he pleaded guilty to unlawfully capturing golden eagles and other raptors.

Wildlife Research Institute’s David Bittner was sentenced to three years of probation Tuesday in federal court.

He was also accused of using wild birds in educational programs without a permit.

Bittner admits he captured and banded golden eagles and other birds for six months in 2010 after his federal permit had expired.
