COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) – Federal prosecutors say four men trapped red-tailed or Cooper’s hawks at the 1,800-acre Willcreek Plantation in Orangeburg County during 2013 and 2014.
Prosecutors say 65-year-old Charles Williams is charged with seven counts of violating the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, while 66-year-old John Dantzler, 56-year-old Jimmie Aiken and 56-year-old Alejandro Noyola are charged with one count.
The men face up to six months in prison and a $15,000 fine if convicted of any charge.
