CO – Jeff Denz (Willmar) followed up on a deer that was found illegally dumped on private property. He also received calls about wounded deer, illegal deer stands on public hunting areas and suspicious vehicles.
CO Wayne Hatlestad (Litchfield) handled a big game complaint and enforced state forestry fire laws.
CO Chris Howe (St. Peter) took enforcement action for unmarked shelter, no angling license in possession, angle without license, fail to check traps daily, damage muskrat house, and fail to display valid ATV registration.
CO Julie Siems (Faribault) reports working angling and hunting enforcement.
Work also continues on department background investigations. Many trespassing complaints have been received. A reminder, that just because you may not see ?No Trespassing? signs, it does not give you permission to hunt the property. A restoration order was issued. Time was also spent preparing recordings for court on a previous violation. Violations include no shelter ID and no license in possession and trespass.
CO Bob Geving (Mankato) worked angling and trapping activities. Geving also gave a law & ethics presentation for a snowmobile safety class. Enforcement actions included unsigned license and unmarked fish shelters.
CO Corey Wiebusch (Mankato) followed up on a trespassing complaint which resulted in a civil citation being issued. Enforcement action was taken for blocking public access launch, extra lines, unattended lines and license/ permit infractions.
CO Tom Hutchins (Albert Lea) reports completing a deer hunting related investigation that resulted in trespass violation being issued to the hunter. Time was also spent checking trappers, ATV operators, archery deer hunters, pheasant hunters, and anglers. Violations encountered this week included no shelter ID, untagged traps, and trespassing.
