Arrow Shot Through Abdomen of NY Cat

A cat who was found with an arrow shot through his abdomen is recovering at a veterinarian’s office.

James Gilchrist, the managing veterinarian at the Waterville Veterinary Clinic, told the Observer-Dispatch of Utica that the 27-inch arrow was still lodged in the cat’s abdomen when he was found last month in a field.

Gilchrist says the arrow entered the right side of the male cat’s abdomen between two ribs and exited from the left side just behind his ribs. It lacerated the liver, stomach and spleen.
The cat underwent two surgeries and is expected to survive. He has been adopted.
Police in the rural village of Waterville are trying to figure out who shot the cat.

Arrow Shot Into Chest of Cat in CT

The All Friends Animal Hospital  reported that a “sweet kitty named Elliot” came in on Nov. 4 with an arrow through his chest. They are hoping to find the person responsible for this act of cruelty  and ask that if you know ANYTHING to call Norwich Animal Control at 860-887-5747.  Fortunately for this kitty, the city’s  mayor, Mayor Peter Nystrom, was in the area and able to contact Animal Control who rushed Elliot to All Friends to seek immediate treatment. Elliot is resting after having the arrow removed, although they don’t know if there will be long term nerve damage.
