India: Man arrested for hunting Peacock in Bhatkal

The forest department officials on Tuesday arrested a man for hunting the national bird Peacock and illegally transporting it near Behalli under the Muttali Grama Panchayat limits.

The arrested accused have been identified as Inayatullah, a resident of Mughlihonda.

The accused was arrested during a search operation conducted by the Forest Department officials. Inayatullah reportedly shot the bird and was transporting it on a bike, during which the officials found him in possession of the dead bird.

A case has been registered under the Protection of Wildlife Act and the accused has been presented to the court.
