YORK, Pa. (AP) — Hundreds of thousands of Pennsylvania hunters tramped into the woods Monday for the first day of the state’s major deer hunting season.

In western Pennsylvania’s Venango County, officials said a hunter was shot in the leg and had to be transported to a hospital, said Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency spokesman Cory Angell.
