ERIE COUNTY (WTVG) — A hunter from the Sandusky area is in trouble after allegedly shooting and killing two swans and hurting a third.

Wildlife officials say the hunter fired on a group of five birds at a marsh in Erie County over the weekend.

Two birds got away, but two others died. Another bird was shot, but it managed to survive.

Now, veterinarians are trying to nurse the injured bird back to health in time for the migration season, which begins next month.

The hunter could be fined $1,000 for each of the two swans he killed, and he could lose his hunting license.
