NV: Man killed in hunting accident south of Jackpot

ELKO — Stephen James Foley, 48, was shot and killed Friday in an elk hunting accident in the O’Neil Basin, about 20 miles south of Jackpot.

The hunters were unloading their equipment into the back of a pickup when Chad Zenor, 49, took out the magazine of a Browning 30-06 but failed to clear the chamber.

While setting the gun down on the back seat of the truck, the trigger was inadvertently pulled. The bullet struck the victim in the chest.
