Two hunters were injured after they were accidentally shot in Audubon County late last month.

According to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, 56-year-old Arthur Goupille of Michigan was hunting pheasants between Audubon and Exira around 3:30 p.m. November 25th. The DNR says Goupille’s shotgun discharged, hitting two members of his hunting party about six feet away.

The group had completed a drive and was taking a break when the incident took place. The DNR report added that the discharge was caused by the gun falling over.

The injured hunters were taken to the Audubon County Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. They were treated and later released.
