MT: Family of dog killed in trap awarded in damages

The family of a dog, Betsy, trapped and killed in Missoula near the Clark Fork River in December of 2019, received over $5,000 in damages March 19.

A civil case was issued against Jaymez Partida, Sr., 45, and his nephew Michael Bruno, 35 who set the traps in city limits but didn’t mark or set them properly.

Both men pleaded guilty to state and city charges. Paritda owes over $800 in fines and restitution, has a six-month suspended jail sentence and cannot hunt, fish or trap for 10 years. No word on the nephew’s sentence.
