The wife of Adam Catrett, Charity, says her husband is stable at USA Medical center. Catrett was flown there following a hunting accident Saturday morning. Authorities say Adam Catrett and his father were hunting in the Upper Delta Wildlife Management Area. They say his father slipped while crossing a creek and his gun accidentally went off. A bullet caused a significant injury to Adam Catrett’s leg.

UPDATE 6:20 PM: The Baldwin County Sheriff’s office sent a news release that includes the names of the people involved and a narrative on what they believe happened:

At approximately 9:30 a.m. on November 25, 2017, Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the Upper Delta Wildlife Management Area in the Stockton community to investigate a shooting. Once on scene, deputies learned that Thomas Catrett accidentally shot his son, Adam Catrett, in the leg during a hunting trip. This incident occurred when Thomas Catrett lost his footing while crossing a creek.

Adam Catrett sustained a significant injury to his lower right leg as a result of the shooting. Adam was stabilized by a friend who was hunting with him until medical personnel and deputies arrived. Adam was carried to a clear area before being transported, by a helicopter, to a nearby hospital. His current condition is unknown.

Investigators with the Baldwin County Sherriff’s Office are investigating the incident along with Officers of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.– BCSO News Release
UPDATE 3:25 PM: Captain Steve Arthur says it appears a father accidentally shot his son during a hunting trip. The circumstances surrounding how the accident couldn’t be confirmed by authorities. The incident happened more than a quarter mile from the shooting range at the Upper Delta Wildlife Management Area. The parking lot at the range was used as a staging area for emergency response vehicles.

“We drove up here coming to the shooting range this morning and we saw a bunch of emergency vehicles up here, ambulances, fire trucks and law enforcement vehicles and we drove to the gate here what was going on and it’s very unusual to see something like that going on,” said Mark Kenny from Daphne. Kenny and his family came to the range Saturday morning and saw the commotion. The victim is described as a young man in his 20s.
